Overview

On October 15, 2026, Anthropic announced that Code Review is out of research preview and generally available to Claude Team and Enterprise organizations. Coding agents have sped up how fast code gets written, but review capacity hasn’t kept pace. Code Review has Claude review each GitHub pull request automatically, and the GA release makes reviews faster, findings clearer, and review depth configurable per repository.

Key features

  • About 3x faster reviews

Research preview users asked for faster reviews. Most reviews now finish about 3x faster, going from roughly 20 minutes to 6-10 minutes, so authors spend less time waiting on feedback after opening a PR.

  • Shorter, clearer findings

Preview users also wanted reviews that were quieter and appropriately sized. Reviews now aim to catch more significant bugs, and each finding briefly covers the problem, what triggers it, and the fix. Per the docs, Code Review focuses on correctness by default: bugs that would break production, not formatting preferences or missing test coverage.

  • Review levels per repository

Not every codebase needs the same depth. Admins choose Quick, Standard (default), or Deep for each repository, such as a fast pass for a routine codebase and a thorough review for a critical one. According to the docs, Quick is the fastest level at the lowest cost, while Deep takes the longest and costs the most.

  • Verified findings posted on the PR

Per the docs, a review runs on Anthropic infrastructure in four stages: several agents examine the diff and surrounding code in parallel (Find), a verification step filters out false positives (Verify), the remaining findings are deduplicated and ranked by severity (Rank), and the results are posted on the pull request (Post). Findings appear as inline comments with a summary, plus a check run named Claude Code Review. A review never approves or blocks the pull request, so the decision to merge stays with your team.

  • Setup for admins, nothing for developers

Admins enable Code Review in Claude Code settings, install the GitHub App, and select repositories. Developers need no configuration: once enabled, reviews run automatically on new PRs.

Notes

  • Team and Enterprise only — Code Review works with repositories hosted on GitHub, including GitHub Enterprise Server. Per the docs, it isn’t available to organizations with Zero Data Retention or the HIPAA configuration, and isn’t yet available to organizations that use customer-managed encryption keys (CMEK).
  • Enterprise credit promotion — Eligible Claude Enterprise organizations can claim at least $10,000 in Code Review credits by January 15, 2027. Credits expire 30 days after claiming, and promotional terms apply.
  • Requesting reviews — Each repository has a setting for when reviews run: once when a pull request opens, after every push, or only on request. Anyone with write access can comment @claude review on a pull request to start a review.
  • Customizing reviews — Tune what gets flagged with REVIEW.md and CLAUDE.md files in your repository.
  • Other ways to get a review — On any plan, you can run /code-review in your Claude Code session to review a branch locally.
  • Docs — Setup, costs, and troubleshooting are covered in the Code Review docs.
