Claude Design by Anthropic Labs

Collaborative visual creation with Claude — designs, interactive prototypes, presentations, and more through conversation.

Official announcement →

This article is a summary based on official documentation.

Overview

Anthropic released Claude Design as a research preview from Anthropic Labs. It lets you create designs, interactive prototypes, presentations, and more by having a conversation with Claude.

Built on Claude Opus 4.7, the tool presents a two-panel interface — a chat panel on the left and a canvas on the right — so you describe what you need, Claude generates an initial version, and you refine through conversation, inline comments, direct edits, and custom adjustment sliders.

Getting started

  • Dedicated URL: claude.ai/design — a separate web interface (chat on the left, canvas on the right), not the regular Claude chat.
  • Available on: Claude Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise plans.
  • Not available in Claude Code CLI — web only. Completed designs can be handed off to Claude Code for implementation.

Enterprise activation

Claude Design is default off for Enterprise plans. An organization administrator must turn it on in Organization settings before team members can access claude.ai/design. Pro, Max, and Team plans have it enabled by default. For admin configuration details, see Anthropic’s “Claude Design admin guide for Team and Enterprise plans.”

Key features

  • Conversational design generation

Start from text prompts, uploaded files (DOCX, PPTX, XLSX), or captured websites. Claude produces an initial version on the canvas. Use chat for broad structural or aesthetic shifts, and inline comments for targeted component-level refinements. Custom adjustment sliders handle fine-tuning.

  • Design systems for brand consistency

Connect your organization’s design system to a project and brand consistency applies automatically across outputs. Reference design system components by name so everything — from marketing assets to product mockups — stays on-brand.

  • Handoff to Claude Code

Completed designs hand off to Claude Code for implementation. Link a code repository to build production-ready interactive prototypes, including voice, video, and 3D capabilities.

  • Flexible export options

Download as .zip, PDF, or PPTX; send to Canva or standalone HTML; or hand off directly to Claude Code.

  • Sharing and access control

Organizational sharing controls with view-only, comment, and edit access levels on shareable links.

Primary use cases

  • Interactive prototypes for feedback and user testing
  • Product wireframes and mockups for developer handoff
  • Design exploration across multiple directions
  • Pitch decks and presentations exportable as PPTX
  • Marketing collateral including landing pages and social assets
  • Code-powered prototypes with voice, video, and 3D capabilities

Notes

  • Currently in research preview — included with your subscription, with optional extra usage available.
  • Start with simple designs and add complexity incrementally for stable results.
  • Provide specific feedback and reference design system components by name.
  • Known limitations: inline comments occasionally disappear before processing, compact view layout can trigger save errors, very large codebases may cause performance issues, and chat errors sometimes require starting new tabs within projects.
